TAWI-TAWI - Joint elements of Tandubas MPS and Tawi Tawi PMFC seized some illegal drugs and assorted loose high powered firearms during the conduct of police operation at Barangay Kakoong, Tandubas, Tawi-Tawi on July 31, 2022.
 
Report from Tandubas MPS disclosed that at around 3:30AM of the same date, they responded to the reports regarding the presence of armed men spotted in the area at Kalang Islet, Barangay Kakoong. Upon arrival at the area, the armed suspects fired upon the approaching troops that ensued into a firefight which lasted for about 20 minutes.
 
The suspects, identified as Nurhamin A. Madnur, 43 years old; Moh'd Al A. Sangogot, 27 years old; and alias Billy, were neutralized during the firefight while the others identified as Alhamin Sangogot, 18 years old; Alman Ladjabassal, 18 years old; and Adin Nur, 31 years old were arrested.
 
Recovered from the suspects' possessions were: three (3) M14 Rifle, one (1) unit M16 A1 (5.56mm) elisco with M203 grenade launcher with inserted long magazine containing 15 pieces of live ammunition; one (1) unit KG9 (9mm) luger automatic sub-machine gun with inserted magazine containing 6 pieces live ammunition; two (2) rifle grenade; 14 pieces M14 magazine; nine (9) pieces m16 magazine; two (2) pieces KG9 magazine; two (2) Sniper scope; Assorted ammos; four (4) pieces bandolier; two (2) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline granules with estimated weight of 50 grams and SDP of Php340,000.00; 109 heat-sealed plastic straws containing white crystalline granules believed to be shabu with estimated weight of 2.91 grams and SDP of Php19,788.00; cash amounting to 2,780 pesos and; 8 rolls of aluminum foils.
 
The arrested suspects and recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Tandubas MPS for investigation and proper disposition while the suspects who died during the police operation were brought to Tuan Ligaddung Lipae Memorial Hospital and will subsequently be turned over to their families.
 
Further, the crime scene was turned-over to Tawi Tawi PFU for processing as well as the confiscated firearms and ammunition for examination.
 
Meanwhile, the Regional Director PRO BAR lauded the operatives for the successful police operation and stressed that PRO BAR will continue to intensify its anti criminality campaign with strong emphasis on curbing illegal drugs.
