As part of the ongoing effort to preserve the integrity and credibility of the electoral process, police security forces arrested the five (5) election violators for violating Omnibus Election Code Article XXII, Section 261 para Z, sub para 3 which states that “Any person who votes in substitution for another whether with or without the latter’s knowledge and/or consent”, at about 7:50 PM on May 9, 2022 at the Polling Center, Amerol Elementary School, Purok Amerol, Mother Barangay Kalanganan, Cotabato City.
Reports from Police Station 4 disclosed that security forces detailed on the said Polling precinct spotted the five (5) suspects caught in the act of shading and voting in place of another, prompting the security forces to alert the Special Board of Election Inspectors (Cluster 74) and refer the violation.
The 5 suspects were identified as Poll Watchers of the said precinct in Cotabato City and were all arrested. They are now in the custody of Police Station 4 with the ten (10) pieces of ballots recovered from each of them. A case for violation of Omnibus Election Code Article XXII, Section 261 para Z, sub-para 3 are being prepared against them.
