Jolo, Sulu Philippines – March 29, 2022, operating units from Jolo MPS, Indanan MPS, Parang MPS, Patikul MPS, and 1ST & 2nd PMFC together with National Support Unit (NSUs) namely: MARPPSTA, 7SAB, Sulu PIT, RIU 9, and SA FIID-SIU SIT-9, under the supervision of PCOL JAIME C MOJICA JR, Provincial Director, Sulu PPO, conducted Anti-Smuggling Operations in the different municipalities of Sulu that resulted in confiscation and seizure of a total of 120 cases of smuggled cigarettes amounting to Php 4.3 Million.
The intensified Anti-Smuggling Operations were conducted in the following areas: Barangay Tulay Zone 3, Jolo with fifty (50) cases of cigarettes amounting to Php 2.5 million confiscated; Brgy. Buansa, Indanan with thirty (30) cases of cigarettes amounting to Php 900,000 confiscated; Brgy. Umangay, Patikul with fifteen (15) cases of cigarettes amounting to Php 225,000 confiscated; and Municipality of Parang with twenty-five (25) cases of cigarettes amounting to Php 750,000 confiscated.
The said confiscated items were brought to Camp PSSupt Julasirim A Kasim in Brgy. Asturias, Jolo for documentation and proper disposition.
The Sulu PPO in, partnership with other Government Agencies, will continuously work for the implementation of provisions under R.A No. 8424 or the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997 and R.A No. 10863.
PBGen ARTHUR R CABALONA, Regional Director, PRO BAR lauded the operating troops in Sulu for this successful operations against smuggling. The Regional Director reiterates that PRO BAR is relentless to fight all forms of criminalities in the region towards the attainment of a safe, peaceful and progressive community.
