The PNP operatives in Tawi-Tawi arrested an alleged member of the notorious Abu Sayyaf Group with a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping with ransom during a law enforcement operation in Barangay Poblacion, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on March 9, 2022.
PCPT Kuhutan H Imlani Jr., Officer-in-Charge of Bongao Municipal Police Station, identified the suspect as alias "AL", 26 years old, member of Abu Sayyaf Group, listed in the Most Wanted Persons of Bongao Municipal Police Station, and with a warrant of arrest for the crime of kidnapping with ransom issued by the Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, Branch 5, Tawi-Tawi dated September 2, 2019.
Citing report from Tawi-Tawi Police Provincial Office, at about 9:00 AM on March 9, 2022, joint elements of Bongao MPS, Provincial Intelligence Unit of Tawi-Tawi PPO, 51st SAC Special Action Force, 1st Special Operations Unit Maritime Group, and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency successfully served the warrant of arrest against the suspect.
The arrested suspect was brought to Bongao Municipal Police Station for proper documentation, investigation, and disposition. He was properly informed of his constitutional rights in a dialect known to him.
Police Brigadier General Arthur R Cabalona, Regional Director, PRO BAR, said that this law enforcement operation was successfully conducted with the support of the public by providing relevant information to the government authorities. He also encourages the public to continually support the operations of the PNP against wanted persons in the Bangsamoro region.
Likewise, the Regional Director also lauded the operating units and further reiterates that PRO BAR, with other law enforcement agencies in the Bangsamoro region, is on top of eliminating terrorism and criminality in the island province of Tawi-Tawi.
