In line with PRO BAR's relentless fights against illegal drugs, with active support of the public, Jolo Municipal Police Station confiscated 4.6 grams of suspected shabu with Standard Drug Price of Php 31,280.00 on March 4, 2022 at Jolo Pier, Barangay Walled City, Jolo, Sulu.
Report from Sulu Police Provincial Office disclosed that a certain alias "Aldaren" tried to send a parcel contained in a transparent envelope via passenger ship bound for Zamboanga City. When said parcel was inspected as a matter of protocol, a transparent plastic sachet containing a suspected shabu placed inside a record book which was further placed inside a brown envelope was discovered. Said incident was immediately reported by the captain of the passenger ship to the personnel of Jolo MPS who quickly responded, resulting to the arrest of the suspect.
Recovered pieces of evidence from the suspect were 1 piece of plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing 4.6 grams; 1 piece record book; 1 brown envelope; and 1 mobile cellular phone. Onsite inventory of confiscated pieces of evidence were conducted in the presence of the arrested suspect, witnessed by the Barangay officials of Bus-Bus, Jolo and a media representative.
During an interview with alias "Aldaren", he divulged that an alias “Murid” asked him in exchange of fifty (50) pesos to send said parcel to the passenger ship bound for Zamboanga City. Acting on the information, Jolo MPS conducted a follow up operation that resulted to the arrest of alias “Murid” at Sitio PMC, Bus-Bus, Jolo, Sulu.
A case for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being prepared for filing against the suspects.
Police Brigadier General Arthur R Cabalona, Regional Director, PRO BAR, lauded the operating troops for this successful anti-illegal drugs operation and reiterated that PRO BAR is determined to eradicate all forms of illegal drugs in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. He also encouraged the public to support PRO BAR in its fight against illegal drugs by reporting any illegal drug activities or suspicious lawless individuals to the government authorities.
