            Government operatives in Basilan arrested a wanted person for the crime of Murder on August 2, 2021 at Sitio Sayugan, Barangay Maganda, Lamitan City, Basilan.

            Report from Basilan Police Provincial Office revealed that the accused, identified as Jimbo Taning Asani alias “JIMBO/JIM”, male, of legal age, married, mechanic, and a resident of Barangay Sangali, Zamboanga City, had a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of Murder issued by the Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court, 9th Judicial Region, Branch 34, Zamboanga City dated January 21, 2021.

            Investigation disclosed that Joint PNP-AFP intelligence –driven operation was conducted at Sitio Sayugan, Barangay Maganda, Lamitan City which resulted to the arrest of the accused Asani wherein arresting officers immediately served the warrant of arrest. Apprehending officers informed the accused of his constitutional rights.

            Asani, who is the primary suspect of killing a retired PNP personnel, Edwin Solis in Zamboanga City. is also a Regional Top Priority Target of PRO BAR and Top 7 Most Wanted Person in Zamboanga City.

            Further, arrested accused was affiliated to the group of Gun for Hire and Drug Syndicate led by Danny Hajiri Bairulla. The accused was  also linked with members of Basilan based Local Terrorist Group in Tuburan, through his gun for hire activities and linked to a certain Jumong, a Local Terrorist Group member who was involved in the beheading of Philippine Marines personnel in Basilan province.

            The arrested person was brought to Zambonga City by Regional Intelligence Unit 9 for proper disposition.

            Police Brigadier General Eden T Ugale, Regional Director, PRO BAR, lauds the operatives involved in the operations for their relentless efforts in the implementation and serving of warrant of arrest against wanted person in the province. He appreciates the active cooperation and support of the community in this successful operation.

            The Regional Director also reiterates that the continuous apprehension of wanted person in the Bangsamoro region is a clear message that the PNP is determined to go after criminals and put them behind bars.
