            Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region has already disbanded Eight (8) Private Armed Groups (PAGs) out of the 18 DI-Listed Active/Inactive PAGs operating in the province of Maguindanao within the first two quarters of this year.

            Through the implementation of the National Task Force for the Disbandment of Private Armed Groups (NTF-DPAGs) under the security aspect of the Normalization track of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) that focuses on the disbandment of private armed groups in BARMM and nearby regions and with PRO BARs determined adherence in this approach, another successful negotiation resulted in the surrender of the Private Armed Group identified as the “Montawal” Group.

            They are the 9th DI-Listed Active PAG who surrendered to PRO BAR, their surrender is now on process for recommendation for official disbandment. This group is active since year 2010, headed by Datu Andy Montawal (Deceased), wanted for his involvement in a robbery, hold-up, cattle rustling, and rape. Prior to his death, he expressed his desire to surrender to this PRO to clear his name and to give peace a chance in Datu Montawal and its neighboring towns.

            On July 19, 2021, the Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region under the leadership of PBGEN Eden T Ugale, presented the surrendered PAG to the Chief PNP.

            PGEN Guillermo Eleazar,during his official visit to PRO BAR concurred with the intention of the six (6) members of Datu Montawal Private Armed Group to surrender  identified as Amurin Galay, Saman Cusain, Sunga Sawal, Marco Langiban Montawal, Sadam Agad  Akad, and Jun Ampatuan Kitig, all residents of Datu Montawal, Maguindanao.

            Now down to Ten (10), PRO BAR has gone even more relentless in addressing the issues on private armed groups and championing in this undertaking for it is now close to full disbandment of PAGs in the Region.

            The surrenderees are reintegrated into their respective community and closely monitored with the help of their respective Local Government Unit. They are under close monitoring to make sure that they will continue to respect the law and the peace and order efforts of the government.

            The disbanded private armed groups include Datu Tha Sinsuat Group, Ibay Group, Pananggalan Group, Dilangalen Group, Matalam Group, Abo Group, Mamasabulod Group, and Akmad Ampatuan Group, all operating in the province of Maguindanao.

            A concise summary of firearms surrendered due to PRO BARs adherence to NTF-DPAGs now reached a total of 41 assorted firearms and ammunition.

            These significant milestones, PRO BAR in its operations on DPAGs, particularly on the increasing number of disbanded PAGs are a manifestation of PRO BAR's commitment to maintaining peace and order here in the Bangsamoro region.
