COTABATO CITY – One (1) drug personality was neutralized in Anti-Illegal Drug Operation after an armed encounter with the police in Cotabato City on June 25, 2021.

            The report of Cotabato City Police Office revealed that at about 6:30 AM of June 25, 2021, combined elements of Cotabato City PNP, Task Force Kutawato, and PDEA BAR conducted entrapment / drug buy bust operation in Alejandro Dorotheo Street, Poblacion 6, Cotabato City against the suspect identified as Amhad Unos Abdulatip, male, of legal age, and resident of Buayan, Datu Piang, Maguindanao.

            As a result, after selling of suspected shabu to the PNP agents, the suspect sensed the presence of operating units and immediately drew his concealed firearm and shot the operating personnel using his caliber .38. The operatives prompted to defend themselves using their issued firearms which resulted to immobilize the suspect. Thereafter, the suspect was immediately rushed to Cotabato Regional and Medical Center for medical treatment but declared Dead on Arrival by the attending physician.

            The operatives recovered pieces of evidence from the suspect's possession: three pieces medium size plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with an estimated value of one hundred twenty thousand pesos (Php 120,000.00); one (1) piece 38 revolver Firearm, chamber loaded with inserted containing six (5) live ammunition; One (1) piece cap; One (1) piece eyeglasses; One (1) denomination of genuine five-hundred peso bill (Php 500.00) used as buy-bust money; and One hundred (100) pieces of five hundred machine photo copy. Markings and inventory of seized evidence was done in the area of operation with the presence of media representative, barangay officials, and representative from National Prosecution Service.

            Recovered pieces of evidence are now in the custody of PNP Regional Crime Laboratory Office – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for examination and proper disposition.

            Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region has always been firm in its war against illegal drugs. Drug peddling is a crime and these acts are the reasons why “Shabu” is still thriving in our community. It steals lives and brings about social ills in the community.
