         CAMP BGEN SALIPADA K. PENDATUN, Parang, Maguindanao - In an effort to strengthen peace building efforts in the Bangsamoro region, commanders and officers from the different units under the Police Regional Office - Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR) participated in an information, education, and communications (IEC) campaign on the GPH-MNLF peace process and it’s Mechanism on July 17, 2021.

            This IEC campaign was spearheaded by the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity, and PNP Peace and Development Center (PPDC) together with the Police Regional Office – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

            Present during the program were Undersecretary Arthur I Tabaquero, Chair of the GPH Coordinating Committee and member of Government Coordinating Committee for Misuari Group; Undersecretary Cesar B Yano, Chairman of GPH Security Sub-Committee; BGen Buenaventura Pascual (retired), Chairman of Community Healing and Reconciliation Sub-Committee; Member of Parliament Atty. Nabil Tan, Deputy Speaker of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority; Police Colonel Ritchie Medardo Posadas, Acting Chief of PNP Peace Process Development Center; Brigadier General Jonas Lumawag, Commanding Officer of 1st Marine Brigade; and Colonel Jose Ambrosio Rustia of Joint Task Force Kutawato, 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.

            Director Janna Jill Gallardo, Head Secretariat of the GPH Coordinating Committee, provided updates and status of the Government of the Philippines and Moro National Liberation Front (GPH-MNLF) Peace Process.

            On his part, Police Brigadier General Eden T Ugale, Regional Director, PRO BAR gave updates on the peacekeeping activities of the PNP Joint Peace and Security Team. The Regional Director emphasized that he instructed the Chief of Police to work closely and cooperate with the JPST on their respective areas of concerned.

            The IEC campaigns being conducted by OPAPP and PPDC will serve as a platform for PNP participants to deepen their understanding on the GPH-MNLF Peace Process and its Mechanism.
