TAWI-TAWI – One (1) drug personality was arrested in a checkpoint operation at Barangay Sanga-Sanga, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi for transporting and peddling illegal drugs on February 15, 2020.
Report from Tawi-Tawi Police Provincial Office to Police Brigadier General Samuel P Rodriguez, Regional Director of Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region disclosed that at about 3:00 PM of February 15, 2021, personnel of Bongao Municipal Police Station flagged down while conducting checkpoint a certain Mijar Isnani Tagayan a.k.a MIDz, 43 years old, married, and a resident of Barangay Malacca, Panglima Sugala,Tawi-Tawi.
Operatives recovered from the suspect's possession are the following pieces of evidence: one (1) piece of heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline granules believed to be shabu with an estimated value of one hundred two thousand pesos (Php102,000.00); one (1) piece of transparent plastic straw containing white crystalline granules believed to be shabu with estimated value of one thousand seven hundred pesos (Php 1,700.00); one (1) unit single motorcycle XRM Honda color black/yellow with plate number 7699; one (1) piece belt bag color red; and other pieces of evidence.
After documentation, inventory, and marking of evidence on the site of operation, the arrested suspect including the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Bongao Municipal Police Station for thorough investigation and proper disposition. The arrested suspect was properly informed of his constitutional rights in a dialect understood by him.
Regional Director, Police BGen Rodriguez, lauded the operating unit and reiterated that PRO BAR is determined in eradicating illegal drugs in the Bangsamoro region with intensified efforts to secure and protect the Bangsamoro people, most especially the youth, from the scourge of illegal drugs.
