Tawi-Tawi – The Joint operatives of Bongao Municipal Police Station and Special Operations Unit of PNP Maritime Group in Tawi-Tawi conducted a buy bust operation that resulted to an armed encounter with the suspect identified as Aspali Hajiran Amin on January 30, 2021 at Barangay Simandagit, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
Report of Bongao MPS disclosed that during the operation, the suspect fired at the operating units using a Caliber .38 Revolver. A gunfight ensued in which the suspect was neutralized by the operating units. The suspect was immediately brought to Datu Halun Sakilan Memorial Hospital for immediate medical treatment but declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect were: three (3) pieces of transparent plastic containing white crystalline granules believed to be Shabu with estimated value of One Hundred Two Thousand Pesos (Php 102,000.00); seven (7) pieces of transparent plastic straw containing white crystalline granules believed to be shabu with estimated value of Two Thousand; Three Hundred Eighty (Php 3,380.00); one (1) unit Caliber .38 Revolver bearing serial number 090353 with inserted magazine loaded with two (2) live ammunitions; buy bust money amounting to Two Thousand Six Hundred Fifty-one (Php 2,651.00); drug paraphernalia; and other pieces of evidence.
The confiscated pieces of evidence are now in the custody of SOCO Team in Tawi-Tawi for examination and proper disposition while the cadaver of suspect was subsequently released to his immediate family for burial rights.
