Parang, Maguindanao – The Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region spearheaded by Police Brigadier General Samuel P Rodriguez, Regional Director organized a Mangrove Tree Planting and Coastal Clean-up Activity in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Parang held at Tuka Park, Barangay Sarmiento, Parang, Maguindanao on January 21, 2021.
The activity was attended by the residents and leaders of Barangay Sarmiento, Local Government Officials of Parang headed by Mayor Cahar P Ibay, and members of the PNP. A short orientation about the proper way of planting the mangrove trees was conducted followed by the actual Mangrove Tree Planting. After the planting, a coastal clean-up drive was done by the attendees.
The Mangrove tree planting was initiated to protect the shorelines from damaging storm, hurricane winds, waves, floods, and helps to prevent erosion along the coastal area. On the other hand, the clean-up will help to conserve clean water in the seashore and reduce trash to save the marine life and the well-being of the locals who live nearby. It also aims to increase the awareness among the communities of the importance of caring and preserving the environment and to foster strong and active participation of the PNP personnel and the communities in environmental protection.
This activity serves as another initiative of the PRO BAR. It also designed to increase the awareness of the community on how we can protect and preserve the nature and to foster strong partnership of the PNP and the Local Government Units in protecting the environment.
PRO BAR is determined to preserve and protect the coastline ecosystem. For more than a decade now, PRO BAR personnel have planted a thousand trees that contribute to a greener environment and decrease the exposure of any vulnerability against natural disaster and improve air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife.
