SULU – One Abu Sayyaf Group member has decided to lay down his arms and return to government fold at about 16:50 p.m. of December 27, 2020 in Barangay Buhanginan, Patikul, Sulu.
The former ASG fighter, identified as Sudimar Majan Ahmad alias Muds, 30 years old and under the ASG group of Dawlah Islamiyah Inspired ASG Senior leader Late Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan, surrendered to government authorities and received by the Special Force Infantry Division, 6th Special Action Battalion, Philippine Army together with the police in Patikul Sulu of PRO BAR.
The former rebel yielded his firearm: one (1) Caliber 45 M1911A1 Pistol with serial number 594168 loaded with two (2) rounds of ammunition. He surrendered through the intensified intelligence information operation of PNP and AFP units in Patikul, Sulu.
The former rebel's surrender was part of the multi-pronged approach of the Bangsamoro Task Force on Ending Local Armed Conflict (BTF-ELAC) under the Executive Order 70 or the National Task Force Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), through the initiatives of the Local Officials and peace loving citizens of Patikul Municipality.
Regional Director, PRO BAR Police Brigadier General Samuel P Rodriguez is calling the other members and leaders of Abu Sayyaf Group and inspired Dawlah Islamiyah Group to lay down their arms to the government and return to the folds of law in order to achieve lasting peace in the province of Sulu. Rest assured that they will be supported by the government to start a new life.
