          Sulu - Personnel of Pata Municipal Police Station arrested five personalities for illegal dynamite fishing in the Municipal Waters of Pata, Sulu on December 27, 2020.

          Report from Sulu Police Provincial Office disclosed that suspects, identified as: Marasal Gafar, 25 years old, male; Ismul Gafar Mukali, 30 years old, male; Binti Manisa Aman, 43 years old, male; Tamuni Salijani Mukali, 45 years old, male; and Umbol Salijani Mukali, 25 years old, male, all residents of Maimbung, Sulu, were taken to Pata Municipal Police Station for illegal dynamite fishing activity in the municipal waters of the town.

          According to the report, personnel of Pata MPS, onboard two pump boats, responded to the alleged illegal dynamite fishing activity 200 meters away from the Police Station. Upon arrival on the reported area, the operating police caught the suspects who were illegally fishing with the use of explosive. Responding police confiscated seven (7) explosive dynamites, pieces of improvised detonation kit, and two pump boats used by the suspects.

          The arrested suspects are now under the custody of Pata Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition. Filing of appropriate charges is now ongoing.

          Police Brigadier General Samuel P Rodriguez, Regional Director, PRO BAR lauded the operating PNP personnel for their relentless efforts in eliminating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, and securing the municipal waters within the Bangsamoro region.
