Cotabato City - Personnel of Cotabato City Police Office and 22nd Marine Company of Philippine Marines conducted checkpoint operation along Biniruan Detachment, Poblacion 9, Cotabato City and successfully intercepted one (1) Toyota Hi-Ace Grandia, bearing plate number NCA 9204, loaded with assorted boxes/cases of smuggled cigarettes on December 8, 2020.
Suspects were identified as Adi Musa Piang, 14 years old, male, driver and Esmael Gampong Abubakar, 41 years old, male both residents of Barangay Bulalo, Sultan, Kudarat were arrested for the violation of Republic Act No. 4712 for unlawful importation and smuggling of undocumented and smuggled cigarettes.
Confiscated during the said operation were 12 boxes of New Berlin Cigarettes and 3 boxes of Royal Rania. After the operation, the confiscated items together with the arrested suspects and vehicle were turned over to Police Station 2, Cotabato City Police Office for proper disposition.
