LANAO DEL SUR - Despite the implementation of the community quarantine protocols against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region continues to be proactive in acting on complaints against harassment and other forms of violence against women and children.

        On November 24, 2020, Tuesday, Omera M Arimao, victim and wife of the suspect, Ansao L. Dimaporo personally appeared at Masiu MPS and requested for police assistance regarding her husband’s maltreatment.

       Based on report, the suspect had beaten her with a gun where she sustained cuts on her forehead. Accordingly, personnel of Masiu MPS acted upon the report and immediately arrested the suspect. Confiscated in his possession is one (1) unit cal. 38 Revolver without ammunition and defaced serial number.

       Arrested person and the confiscated firearm were brought to Masiu MPS for booking procedures while cases for violation of RA 9262 or Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 and RA 10591, an Act providing for a Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition are now being readied to be filed against the suspect.

          PBGEN Samuel P Rodriguez, RD, PRO BAR directed all women and protection desk of PRO BAR to exert their best efforts to investigate, assist complainants to avail remedies and adopt measures that would allow complainants to safely report abuses even during this time of pandemic.
