LANAO DEL SUR – The PRO BAR Campaign against Loose Firearms continues to gain support from locals in Lanao Del Sur as another set of loose firearms were voluntarily surrendered to Bayang Municipal Police Station in Barangay Maliwanag, Bayang, Lanao Del Sur on October 26, 2020.

            The police report of the said station disclosed that at about 10 o’clock in the morning of October 26, 2020, officials of Barangays Cadayunan, Patong, Raya Cadayunan, Linuk Mapantao and Raya Bubong handed over One (1) improvised RPG without ammunition, (1) Smith & Wisson caliber .38 revolver without serial number and ammunition, one (1) Colt caliber 22 revolver with serial number 107441 without ammunition, three (3) caliber .38 revolver no brand without ammunition to the police. The said firearms were received by the Acting Chief of Police of Bayang MPS for documentation and will be turned-over to Provincial Operation Management Unit of Lanao Del Sur Police Provincial Office for proper disposition.

            The turnover of firearms was part of the continued PNP campaign dubbed as “Oplan Kontra Boga Bravo”, a campaign against loose firearms. Under LOI Kontra Boga, the PNP shall conduct aggressive police operations targeting unregistered and unlicensed firearms in the hands of threat groups, criminal elements and the civilian population, as well as firearms with expired or not renewed licenses.

            Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Samuel P Rodriguez, Regional Director is determined to intensify the campaign against loose firearms across the region.

            Meanwhile, Police BGen Rodriguez calls for private individuals and local officials who have unlicensed firearms or with expired license to surrender their firearms otherwise, case build-up operation will be conducted upon them. He also urges all police units of PRO BAR to be proactive in the drive and to step up its campaign against persons with Loose Firearms.
