          LANAO DEL SUR – One unit of Loose Firearm was turned over by local official to Pualas Municipal Police Station in Barangay Talambo, Lanao Del Sur on October 19, 2020.

          In the police report of Pualas Municipal Police Station of Lanao Del Sur Police Provincial Office disclosed that at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon of October 19, 2020, a Barangay Councilor of Dabak came to Pualas Municipal Police Station and voluntarily surrendered one (1) unit caliber .38 Smith and Wesson without serial number and ammunition. The said firearm was received by Police Lieutenant Edwin A Sapungan, Acting Chief of Police for documentation prior to the turnover to Provincial Stategy Management Unit. 

          The turnover of firearms was part of the continued PNP campaign dubbed as “Oplan Kontra Boga Bravo”, a campaign against loose firearms. Under LOI Kontra Boga, the PNP shall conduct aggressive police operations targeting unregistered and unlicensed firearms in the hands of threat groups, criminal elements and the civilian population, as well as firearms with expired or not renewed licenses.

          Likewise, Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Samuel P Rodriguez, Regional Director will be intensified its campaign against loose firearms across the region. 

          Meanwhile, Police BGen Rodriguez calls for private individuals and local officials who have unlicensed guns or with expired license to surrender their firearms, otherwise, case build-up operation will be conducted upon them. He also urges all police units of PRO BAR to be proactive in the drive against persons with loose firearms and to step up its campaign against loose firearms.
